Ain’t It Quaint?

We just moved into our new one-room place at Oakview Village. When I first looked at it, I liked it. I didn’t think we’d get it though, because it was bigger than the other one-room apartments I’d seen, and too expensive. But one morning, I prayed that God would show us where to go, and I trusted Him to do so as I drove around looking at different places. By late afternoon, I was ready to quit when I got a phone call from Oakview. The manager asked me if I would reconsider living at Oakview if she lowered the price to what we were hoping for! Thanks, Lord!

I also had to trust the Lord in getting us moved since this whole last month has been jam-packed. We were in our friends’ wedding party, some important family came into town, we helped put on a swing workshop weekend among other responsibilities for the swing club, and I often spend my days taking care of my health.

Thankfully, our family and friends came to the rescue. My mom, whom I call “Supermom”, came many times to help me pack, clean, and make a scaled map of our new place. We played around with the cut-to-scale furniture to figure out what things would fit where, and what had to go. Both of our parents are kind in letting us store stuff at their houses, as well as our friend Leah.

David’s parents were so kind to take us out to eat this month, which gave me a chance to relax. Jack came to help me demolish some old, rickety furniture, and pack a bunch of stuff. He’s the most cheerful hard worker I know! Mom and Dad, Tracy, Gerry, and Mark, all graciously came to help David and I move the last of our stuff in the rain, and Renee helped clean our old apartment. What a crew came out for us! We’re so thankful!

Needless to say, Oakview Village is appropriately named, as there are some big oak trees around. There’s a community BBQ deck that looks tempting to throw a dance party on sometime. There are lots of friendly kids running around too. It’s a 15 minute walk to work for David, and a 10 minute walk to church. We live above the manager’s office and storage room so we don’t have to worry about smokers moving in and choking us out from below. Anyways, you get the idea. We like our new little place.
