After Chris and Emily’s wedding, we added a stop to San Francisco to explore the Golden Gate Bridge, Chinatown, and Ghirardelli Square.
I took the wrong turn serendipitously and we ended up crossing the Golden Gate Bridge to get into San Francisco. We stopped at Torpedo Wharf to get a view of the iconic bridge.
The kids got a taste of the steep San Francisco hills on our way to Chinatown for dim sum. I grew up seeing Portland’s Chinatown every Saturday for Chinese school, so I’ve taken for granted that my kids aren’t familiar with the sights and sounds of a Chinatown.
Violet’s highlight and must-visit for San Francisco was Ghirardelli Square. The kids enjoyed a large ice cream sundae and we picked up a few treats because we all love chocolate.
Our last stop was back at the Golden Gate Bridge to enjoy a sunset view. It was appropriately windy but the bridge did look a little more “golden” as the sun dipped below the horizon.
