I mentioned on our last anniversary that we weren’t taking many photos of ourselves since having kids. I’m pleased to report that we have increased the frequency of photos for Jenni and me this year, especially since our a-photo-a-week project is themed around our married life.
I recently came back from a trip where there was a celebration of 60 years of marriage. 60 years! I certainly look forward to and hope that Jennilyn and I will share so many great years together. Even for six years, I cannot begin to count the blessings, grace, and love from God as He orchestrates in our lives.
Getting Tonya Tough
We’ve had a whirlwind of health concerns this year. Kadie and Violet have different food allergies, and we’ve fought a lot of battles this year to keep them gaining weight and health. Jenni has her own chronic struggles with her own food sensitivities. She recently underwent a period of treatments for parasites and Candida.
Ultimately, our situation has brought our family closer, and we’ve been so thankful to, not only them, but also dear friends who have given their love, time, and resources to help us. Our parents are so supportive and we’re thankful that they live nearby. We are often blessed beyond belief.
We also started up a new season of Tonya Harding Fitness Challenge (yes, there’s a story to the name) with our friends where we’re all setting health goals. It’s been fun competitively challenging each other so that we’re more often motivated to get off the couch and get moving.
Photo a Week Project
A fun achievement I finished was a photo a week project. My goal was to take more photos to continue growing in my photography skills, and I would highly recommend such a project, even just for fun.
Dance, Dance, Dance
We made it out dancing more frequently than the previous year since Violet is older. We tried not to take our kids with us as it is way past their bedtime, but sometimes we got desperate, and brought them with us.
We also quenched our dancing thirst with So You Think You Can Dance on television and their tour in Portland. We were quite happy with this season’s set up with the all-stars from past seasons dancing with the newbies, and there was a strong cast of dancers competing for the title.
iCaved
After much deliberation from me, Jennilyn bought an iPod touch for my birthday. It has been an invaluable tool for note-taking, photos, videos, music, games, and more. I’ve been learning from how Apple and other iOS developers utilizes touch for an interface and mobile web as I hope to build a mobile web app someday.
Step Forward and Arms Back
We have a feeling that there will be much more to look forward to in our next year of marriage. We are interested in seeing what the Lord is going to do in our lives.
