My 47th Birthday

I’ve wanted to visit the renovated Portland Airport to see the hyped timber ceilings and modernized welcome point for both visitors and residents. Jenni and I picked up my parents, and we enjoyed the main concourse without the deadline of rushing to a terminal for a flight.

The wood gave a warm welcome to use with curves and leading lines toward a giant window to watch airplanes come and go. The living trees added life to the space and I appreciated that they had both the new carpet and the iconic pattern to differentiate levels.

Afterwards, my parents treated us to phở at MeKha Noodle for lunch before catching up with my brother for the afternoon.

He graciously joined us for the evening where Violet had a school choir concert and added his fun uncle energy to the beautiful singing. When Violet came on stage, she knew exactly where we were sitting because of Jack’s big smile. I’m always grateful for Jack’s willingness to go along with anything and adding his dose of awesome to the equation.
