My brother introduced Into the Woods to me seventeen years ago, but I only made it through act one of this wonderful play. I was not interested in theater in 2008, so sitting through the first half of the 1991 version on YouTube was enough for me. I was amused by the first half but I didn’t realize the second half was the payoff.
Fast forward six years later, Into the Woods released as a movie and Jenni and I watched it since the time commitment was shorter and it had a stellar cast. The music captivated us and I admired the comedic brilliance of Agony.
It wasn’t until Lovegood’s production of Into the Woods that the entire story unfolded to me. I wished I had humored my brother and watched the entire play back in 2008, but I’m thankful to have gotten the full experience through Lovegood.
Several Lovegood team members joined the cast and we were excited to see directors, production mangers, stage managers, and instructors showcase their skills on the stage. In doing so, they recruited a fantastic artistic team. I hope the team members get another chance to be on stage in the future.
