Though there were some repeats from past years, there were still plenty of new creations to admire and marvel at. It seemed like more builders are incorporating lights into their builds.
Beijing
We went to China in 2018. It was a trip of a life time! Of course we took tons of photos and videos. And I’ve made a feature video for each place we stayed, except for the last city. Due to just life and other video projects it took me six years to crack open my back burner list, but I’ve finally finished our Beijing video! Thank you, David, for taking us there, and for all your photos and videos! Thank you, Mama & Baba, for being our guides and sharing your family with us. Thank you to all the relatives who showered us with care, gifts, time, and driving us everywhere! You have a special place in our hearts!

Portland Winter Light Festival 2024
I’m grateful for my city who puts on a light festival in the darkest of winter. It lights up my creativity and I love seeing the art people crafted with light.
I visited the World Trade Center hub for an hour downtown and was greeted with colorful sea creatures, pulsing interactive displays, and a cheerfully illuminated crowd to celebrate with.
Illuminated Bike Ride
Ever since the first Portland Winter Light Festival that I learned they had an illuminated bike ride, it was on my list to do.
After years of poor weather or scheduling conflicts, I finally joined fellow wheeled enthusiasts who decorated their wheels with vivid creativity.
My bike was already strapped with multiple lights to help with winter visibility for my commute, but I added a RGB photography LED to my handlebar and strapped a bubble machine to the rear rack.

Hill Family Life 2018
I am embracing the fact that I’m a historian. I’ve reached into past footage and decided to make a new series starting the year my first nephew was born. Although these videos contain birthday celebrations, these are not my typical birthday videos that focus mostly on the birthday kid.
A Marvelous Year in a Snap
Marvel Snap surprisingly dominated my gaming attention this year. I started in January and I have played over 300 hours. It’s a casual, competitive card game that is easy to pick up and play, but it also has nuance and variety to reward a deeper investment. More than the game and its Marvel theme, I found lessons in its game design and how they can apply to my life.
Merry Christmas!
Our Christmas was quiet and peaceful. We gathered with friends and family to celebrate the miracle of Jesus Christ.
Reflecting on 2023
As the year comes to a close, I looked back at the photos, videos, and blog posts we’ve shared to celebrate God’s provisions for our life.
