You’ve stepped it up this year Vi! With Kadie gone to kindergarten, you took care of your little brother and helped mommy around the house. You bring the gift of laughter into our house with your silly antics and tall tales.

Happy Birthday Bruce! You make us laugh every day with your contagious smile, and it’s such a joy to discover life through your eyes.

Here is Jenni’s latest masterpiece video. I’m so thankful she puts together a video to summarize each child’s year. The second year for each of our kids have been the most magical and most difficult to edit.

We had a lovely birthday party at our house for Violet. Many of our friends came to celebrate, and thankfully, some brought their kids so Violet was surrounded by playmates. We enjoyed presents, games, gifts, and a feast. And, of course, no birthday would be complete without a special video from their mom.

Being a mother to my three children has been challenging, but in the end, always a joy. I usually tell people that being a parent is both the most difficult and most wonderful thing at the same time. If only they could stay little! Enjoy each and everyday! Cherish every kiss and every laugh. Be glad to be the one to give them nutritious meals they may not be excited about, and to be the one they want comfort from when they get hurt or are sad. These are the things running through my head when I’m tempted to be grumpy when tired. I don’t want to miss out on enjoying my kids for the gifts that they are to me.

Our little guy turned one today! To describe him in more than a few words: he’s strong, quite active, vocal with his deep voice, and so good looking!

Going from day one to today hasn’t always been easy. But there have been a lot of good memories that I’ve hopefully captured on this video. Enjoy!

To celebrate Kadie’s fifth birthday, we enjoyed an afternoon at Pump It Up on Tuesday and soaked up sun at Lake View Farms on Saturday with a tailgate lunch and pumpkin patch exploration.

Who knew that one of our girls would have so much sass and spunk. We nickname her “Hollywood” because she does not shy from the spotlight, loves being on center stage, and is deliciously dramatic. For all the ferocity she has, her tenderness when she wants to be held is so cozy that I could snuggle with her for hours and not feel the time go by.

And she gives the best fist bumps. And thanks to her uncle Jack, she also can sneak past the fist bump for a snail.

Since Bruce is turning 6 months old, it is time to finish his birth story! In part 1, I covered the events preceding labor up to when I was holding my baby in my arms in the tub, with the midwives wondering if I was going to see if I had a boy or a girl. Sure enough! That little kung fu fighting baby inside me turned out to be a Bruce Lee… er… Lim after all!
