While the girls were away at their Aunt Rachel’s to help with summer camp, Bruce, Jenni, and I spent two nights at L.L. Stub Stewart State Park to try out camping again.

Bricks Cascade 2026
Our family got hooked into LEGOs around 2016 and we’ve enjoyed going to our local LEGO fan convention back in 2017. LEGOs are right up my alley by blending art and engineering. I’m grateful for an event where we can be inspired by great builders.
In this season with near-adult children, we celebrated our anniversary simply and spread out over a week. There were events, commitments, and logistics that made going away overnight tricky, but—as Jenni has taught me over the years—we celebrated anyways.

Willows Withstanding the Wind
Jenni, Violet, and Bruce joined Lovegood’s The Wind in the Willows production with tepid anticipation because the main character wasn’t likeable and lacked character growth. That influenced my outlook on the play as I preferred likeable characters. I find it hard to stay engaged with stories when the main character is insufferable (Marty Supreme, cough cough).
When we reached tech rehearsal week, I finished the first day of photography surprised by the true message of the story: loyal friendship through seasons of life.

ACMA Root Performance
We attended ACMA’s Root performance, which featured student choreography including our neighbor Annabelle as a soon-to-be graduating senior. It was beautiful to see creative and artistic movement from the minds and hearts of students.
I personally enjoyed the “hair-ography” in a piece that Annabelle choreographed with two other dancers and the use of the giant screen and lighting to set the mood of several pieces.

My 47th Birthday
I’ve wanted to visit the renovated Portland Airport to see the hyped timber ceilings and modernized welcome point for both visitors and residents. Jenni and I picked up my parents, and we enjoyed the main concourse without the deadline of rushing to a terminal for a flight.

Marvel United Miniatures 2025 Update
I’ve put this off for too long and we made fun progress through the 147 miniatures we own for Marvel United. For this batch, I worked on finishing the Guardians of the Galaxy characters, but also anti-heroes and villains for gameplay variety.
