Happy Birthday Bruce!

Our little guy turned one today! To describe him in more than a few words: he’s strong, quite active, vocal with his deep voice, and so good looking!

Going from day one to today hasn’t always been easy. But there have been a lot of good memories that I’ve hopefully captured on this video. Enjoy!

Full of Thanks and Thanks for the Fullness

Thanksgiving 2012Besides Christmas, Thanksgiving has become my favorite holiday because it gathers our family together for a length of time longer than a quick meal, baby sitting exchange, errand, and the like. When I was growing up, I hated Thanksgiving because I always seemed to get in trouble during that holiday. In hindsight, I failed to see all the great times shared because all I focused, and even anticipated, on how I got trouble and scolded. But, a few years ago, when Jack started the initiative where he and I hosted the Thanksgiving meal, I’ve replaced the focus of getting in trouble with my parents to being a parent, and getting in trouble making up recipes in the kitchen Thanksgiving day.

Sisters at Sunset

Vi and Kadie at Lake Sacajawea This is one of my favorite photos of our girls. I love the innocence of their hand holding, Kadie intrigued by the dust kicked up, and the sunset light bringing out the debri in the air.

Happy Birthday Kadie!

Kadie's 5th Birthday

To celebrate Kadie’s fifth birthday, we enjoyed an afternoon at Pump It Up on Tuesday and soaked up sun at Lake View Farms on Saturday with a tailgate lunch and pumpkin patch exploration.

Remembering My Focus

This week, I had the pleasure of reading a programmer/CEO’s blog, The Naive Optimist. It inspired me to examine how I spend my days—and subsequently—my life. I got a kick-start in re-evaluating how I spend my time.

Larry Rotter And Hord Of The Pings

I found this draft I wrote 2 years ago but never posted. It says “Last edited on November 30, 2010 at 3:41am!” Ah, insomnia can be quite productive at times. But that could also be why I forgot about it for a while. Or was it the Confundus Charm? Who knows, but here goes!

Conversations From This Past Week

Bruce (4am): Waaa waaa waaa…!
Mommy: Bruce! Please, go to sleep! Why can’t you stay asleep? Every hour! Every half hour! Come on! Please sleep!

Jenni: God, help! I hurt so bad, and I’m so tired. Help!

Bruce (daytime): Waaa waaa waaa…! Achoo!
Kadie: Snot!
Violet: Boogers!

Jenni: Why are you being so nice to me when I’m being so mean to you?
David: Because it hurts more.
Jenni: Because it hurts more, you twit.
David: That would be stooping down to your level.

Jenni: I need chocolate.

Expressive and Impressive

Kadie's expressions

Two things make me smile about this collage. First and most obvious, I enjoy the demonstration of Kadie’s range of expressions. Second, I’m impressed by Jenni’s photographic skills.
