Kadence Photos

Our daughter Kadence, 5 days old
I guess it shouldn’t be a surprise that one of the first things people ask for are pictures of our new baby. She is now 5 days old and changing quite a bit. When we were at our postpartum appointment yesterday, the doctor showed us how much the baby’s stomach changes in the first 10 days. It nearly doubles in size!

We’ve been taking lots of photos (over 300 so far), and I got some time between feedings to fix a few up and get them posted. There are currently two galleries, one for Kadence and her family and one for Kadence’s portraits.

I’m currently working on a blog post about the whole fatherhood experience and will post photos related to that soon. Until then, enjoy how adorable our little girl is.

We are pleased to introduce our lovely daughter, Kadence Lim! She is so sweet and beautiful. We can’t believe we’re parents now.

She was born October 2nd, 2007 at 1:03pm. She weighed 7 pounds and 7 ounces, and was 19 inches long.

Thank you everyone for their warm wishes and prayers. The Lord carried us through joys and trials. We will have the full scoop on our blog soon!

We spent Labor Day with the Rommels, which always means there were a ton of kids around. Kids are fun to photograph as they’re usually not shy from the camera if you befriend them—and you’re their favorite swing pusher.

Little Socks We finished up the rest of the items the baby will need on Saturday. We picked up some socks and were just amazed at how small they were. Then again, everything was small—from the shirts, pants, and caps. I guess it’s good that they’re small, otherwise the baby would have a hard time getting out of mommy.

Gain Some and Lose Some

Well, you’ll notice that our blog is a bit… emptier now.

I had been wanting to clean up our desktop computer (which is our blog server) since it was having problems rendering Jenni’s video projects. I thought I had taken all the necessary backup measures but I missed one. And it was a big one: our blog. I backed up all the graphics and templates, but forgot to backup the database which had all the content.

So now, I’m retracing through Google’s cache and an old backup I have from December 2006 to see what data I can recover.

Sigh. I was hoping for an easy Sunday afternoon.

But we’ll have some exciting video to show on our blog soon.

Baby Hannah

Hannah is a little bit camera shy— or rather, David-shy. Every time I look at her and smile, her happy expression usually turns sour and she heads for her mom crying.

In our last encounter, I held her for a short while as her mom helped her siblings pile into the family van. She stared at me cautiously but I think she grew to be comfortable with me. When I handed her off to Jenni, I was able to snap a few shots of her and she wasn’t as camera-shy. Like all her siblings, she has great eyes.

For the first time, I was quite satisfied with the sharpness that came from my newest lens. Perhaps I’m finally getting better acquainted with a zoom lens after primarily using a 50mm prime for over two years.

We’ve got a big day today after last night’s late night party, we’re heading out to Jenni’s parents for their annual afternoon barbeque. We’ll be celebrating our baby shower, her dad’s retirement, and of course, Jennilyn’s birthday!

Tiffany Got the Book It’s amazing that even a book launch could be an event. I guess the cynic in me says that our culture is caught up in the next big thing, but the optimist in me enjoys that people can celebrate everything and anything.

July Photo Update

I feel like I’ve spent a ton of time behind my camera and post-processing on a computer all this week. Jenni and I worked on a photo job on Sunday and Tuesday, took photos at a going-away party on Friday, snapped shots at the Portland Swing Dance Club dance, and an engagement party today.

For the photo job, I ordered a new lens in preparations. I’m thankful to have a wife who encourages me to exercise the freedom (and the responsibility) with our finances and purchase a high-quality (and high price) lens. But the low-light shots I’m able to get now will pay for themselves in the long run.
